What is shiatsu?
Benefits of Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing, clothed bodywork therapy rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Using gentle pressure on energy lines and points (meridians), stretches and holding techniques, Shiatsu supports the body’s natural ability to heal. It can ease physical tension, calm the nervous system, and help restore emotional balance. I specialise in supporting women with stress, hormonal changes, menstrual issues, anxiety and sleep difficulties — though Shiatsu is beneficial for anyone wanting more connection, peace, and vitality.
What happens in a session?
Shiastu is a fully clothed, hands-on therapy given on a comfortable futon at floor level. At the beginning of each session, we’ll take a few minutes to talk — so I can understand how you're feeling and what you'd like support with, physically or emotionally. From there, you’ll lie down (usually on your back or side) and I’ll use gentle pressure, stretches, and stillness to work with your body’s energy. You might feel a deep sense of calm, warmth, or gentle release as I hold or move certain points. There’s no need to “do” anything — this is time for your whole system to settle and reconnect. Every treatment is unique, depending on your needs that day. Most people leave feeling more grounded, lighter, and more at home in themselves.
